Students and teachers must be 50 or older to participate in Temple's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute where participants can take as many classes as they want for an annual fee of $295.

The first round of cuts are expected Aug. 24, just as the university begins its fall semester, with another round in January.

The layoffs are part of 190 positions that were eliminated with the rest coming through attrition, retirements and elimination of vacant spots.

With her evaluation in hand, the board will consider president Neeli Bendapudi’s new compensation likely in September. Bendapudi has a rolling five-year contract and earns base pay of $950,000.
